Unbiased Honest Facts about
Jehovah's Witnesses
Please understand that this web site is intended to be honest, and not a bigoted or biased view. - My wife is one of Jehovah's Witnesses and i
thought this little web site might help give a balanced view.
Lets state some facts :
Fact: JWs believe in Jehovah God and in His son, Jesus Christ.
Fact: JWs today refer to their stand as neutral, they seek to maintain strict neutrality in the world's affairs, not taking sides or serving any
government.
- Jehovah, and Jesus are common English versions of names used in the Bible- Jesus is the Latin form of a Greek name, in turn the form of a Hebrew name,
and Jehovah is the English form of the Hebrew name for Almighty God. (YHWH - JHVH, the vowels are now forgotten.)
- JW's believe that Jesus is the son of God and an example guide for all humanity - BUT NOT GOD HIMSELF
- This is one reason that
some people say that JW's are not Christian !. Most, but not all Christians believe in the Trinity of GOD, JESUS,
and HOLY GHOST, as one God in three forms.
- This is a major fundamental divergence of belief. ( My wife is a JW' and i was dumbfounded when an evangelical friend of mine, insisted
they couldn't be called Christian ). To me a Christian is simply a person who follows Christ Jesus - JW's clearly do that - When my wife is out
preaching i don't see other 'Christians' doing the same. - actions speak louder than words.
- JW's believe that All Christians not just the Vicar etc are required to preach the Bibles message from individual to individual. ( House to
House ).
- JW's believe the Bible, both old and new testaments, is Gods inspired word.
- JW's do not Vote and abstain from Political Office.
- JW's do not go to War.
- JW's do not eat blood or allow blood transfusions
- JW's believe that God will step into human affairs and run the earth more productively.
- JW's give Bibles away for free. ( both the King James Version and New World Translation)
- JW's cannot divorce unless death or adultery takes place,. - Ought to make for loyal spouses.!
- JW's do not celebrate Birthdays or Christmas.
- JW's do not use any symbols in their church - no cross - no fish - no fancy robes - no gold pots.!
- JW's do not charge - no collections - no tithing - no tax etc.
- JW's believe that when they die they are dead and AWAITING a resurrection
- JW's believe that Hell is only the grave and not a place of torment.
- JW's used to belong to established Christendom and since 1879 ( ? ) have gradually changed their form of worship inline with Bible interpretation.
Hence they do not believe they are infallible and readily admit to making past mistakes - indeed my wife says this is an honest approach and
shows humility - Many web sites seem to criticise the witnesses for changing their mind on bible interpretations over the last hundred years or
so. Example of trawling back through time to criticise the JW's http://www.carm.org/jw/contradictions.htm
you will notice several references over 1896. - Hardly fair, they only started as a small private Bible study group a few years
earlier.!!!!
- JW's do not believe that Jesus was killed on a cross, but rather an upright stake - either way it seems to matter little as there are no
symbols in their church.
- JW's do not accept practising homosexuals nor persons who practise adultery or sex out of marriage. *
- JW's will expel unrepentant sinners from their congregation.
Most who appear to criticise JW's are usually fundamental trinity supporting evangelical Christians. I might listen to them if they knocked on
my door - but I'm still waiting - in the meantime my wife knocks on their door, hands out bibles and magazines and receives condemnation from
these so called Christians.
- I'm proud of my wife's service to God, and yes i have no doubt she sometimes gets down-hearted.
So in answer to my evangelical friend ( though i said it more tactfully
), ... She has greater justification in wearing the name 'Christian' than so many others. - I know a little about the Bible - didn't the Jewish
religious hypocrites accuse Jesus of blasphemy.? - she's in good company.
If you want to know about Jehovah's Witnesses or their beliefs, you are likely to be disappointed with the nasty twisted views of many web
sites.
A typical deceptive web site is http://www.watchtowerinformationservice.org/ ( more
a disinformation service).
The official Witness web
site is http://www.watchtower.org or https://watch002.securesites.net/contact/submit.htm
* I live in the British Isles, and whilst my spell checker disagrees with me, i'm fairly sure that 'practice' when a verb is spelt practise
not practice. Like license / licence.
